It’s Thursday. André got up early to study a little more because today is exam day.

He’s up to date on all his subjects, but it never hurts to do one last review.

When he arrives at school, he gets a call from his mom wishing him luck on his exam.
André: Thanks, Mom.
Jeannine: You’re welcome, sweetie. Did you sleep well? Did you have breakfast?
André: Yes, Mom. I slept great and had some cereal, thank you for asking.

He had just hung up with his mother when Minjun Shim, the soccer team captain, showed up at the lockers to welcome him to the team.
Minjun: I heard you applied to join the soccer team. Good choice. You’re welcome to join practice this afternoon.
André: Thank you very much. I hope I don’t let you down.
Minjun: Oh, not at all. I heard you’re a good athlete, so you’ll be fine.

Minjun: Of course, you can’t miss any training sessions, and you have to complete all the program’s assignments so that it really shows in your project’s results.
André: Sure, I’ll do it, don’t worry.

Great, one more responsibility to add to André’s long list. And now… the exam.

The exam consists of two parts; the first is the English test. André has absolutely no trouble with it, since he not only speaks English perfectly, but also French, which is his mother’s native language.

But it’s one thing to speak a language; grammar is quite another. André isn’t that bad at it, but still…
André: Let’s see, the parts of a sentence are subject, verb, predicate… and what again?

André: Damn, I’ve got it, I know I’ve got it, I just went over it this morning.

André: Oh, right, object and complement, of course…
Saki: (Very quietly) Are you having trouble, genius boy? Tell me which one you’re missing, and I’ll tell you.
André: Shh, you’re breaking my focus here.
Hayoung: Shh, both of you, you’re breaking my focus.

From there on out, the exam was piece of cake for André.

Although surely not as much as it was for Minah the nerdiest nerd in Harmony High, sitting to his left.

Back home, enjoying the delicious meal his dad made. André passed his exams with an A+ and earned the “God of Exams” title. Talk about being a nerd!

Friday came quickly. When André arrived at school, he stopped, as usual, to enjoy the scent of the plant in the hallway.

Next up is art class.

André struggled a bit at first, but art is definitely something that runs in his blood, thanks to his father.

Admiring the work of one of his classmates is one of the art class tasks.

Art class is over, and now André is on his way to his first day at the football club. It’s exciting, even if that means having Hayoung around as a cheerleader. But hey, it’s not a perfect world, right?

Her first practice session with Minjun.

Minjun: The first thing is to learn how to dribble the ball.
André: Like this?
Minjun: Yeah, not bad.

Minjun: But you need to work on your passes.

Minjun: That’s right. Throw it to me.

Minjun: Hey, that wasn’t bad at all either!
André: Really?
Minjun: Yeah, before long you’ll be winning the team another trophy.
A trophy? That’s music to André’s ears.

Next up is soccer practice, with Ziyu Fang, one of the team’s champions, and another three hours of practice that include listening to the giggles and gossiping of the cheerleaders.

Meanwhile, drama unfolded at home when Tony caught Jeannine spying on his Bubbly account.
Tony: You have no reason to spy on me or my personal stuff. I have a right to my privacy.
Jeannine: But I wasn’t spying on you. Your account was logged in, and it opened by accident.
Tony: Please, Jeannine, don’t insult my intelligence. Or your own.

Tony: You were spying on me, and you know it. You’re doing the exact same thing Cassandra.
Jeannine: And why did Cassandra spy on you? Because you cheated on her.
Tony: Yes. With you, by the way. She’s my ex now, and you’re my wife. We’ve been married for over 10 years, and I’ve never cheated on you.

Jeannine: Well, that’s not entirely true.
Tony: What do you mean by that?
Jeannine: You’re familiar with the names Mia, Aislara, Adaeze, Tamika, Aimée, Scarlet… want me to go on?
Tony: That was after my divorce from Cass, and before I married you. Since then, I’ve devoted myself entirely to you and the kids, putting my career and my business trips on hold to be at home. Isn’t that enough for you, Jeannine?
Jeannine: Okay, calm down. That’s not what I meant.

Tony: So what did you mean by bringing up my whole relationship history? Explain yourself.
Jeannine: I don’t think I need to explain myself. And I won’t talk to you anymore as long as you keep yelling at me.
Tony: I don’t wanna yell at you, but it just upsets me when you say things that are not true.
Jeannine: “Not true?” All right, that’s it. We’ll talk when you can control your temper.

Tony: You’re starting to sound like Cassandra, you know?
Jeannine: Sure, Tony, whatever.

Tony: Way to pin the blame on me when she was the one I caught spying on me.

Tony: Thank goodness André isn’t home to see all this.

Jeannine spent the rest of the afternoon locked in her bedroom, while Tony tried to watch some TV, still upset.

André will be home from soccer practice soon, and Tony certainly doesn’t want him to find out what happened. It’s not his first fight with Jeannine, but it is his first since they moved to Cahaya. They almost always argue about the same thing, and Cassandra always comes up. You can move to a different city, but your past will always catch up with you, right?

(To be continued)

Note: Sorry about André’s many sudden outfit changes. Back when I took these photos, I didn’t quite understand the new outfit system yet, but I’ve gradually been getting the hang of it, so I hope we’ll see fewer inconsistencies with his outfits in future posts. 😊
