We’re back with InZOI and my next gameplay. This time it’s the turn of Martin Cooper, aka “Marty” or “Coop.” Unlike Tyler Adams, he wasn’t born in InZOI but in The Sims 4, although I never got around to sharing anything about him because I was overwhelmed by the amount of content I already had on other characters.

So next, I’ll try to summarize Marty’s backstory in The Sims 4 in a few words, which is pretty hard for me since I’m definitely not a short-worded person, lol, but anyway, here it goes.

In The Sims 4, Marty was a police officer—a very good and honest one, in fact. He stood out for his genius in playing both the good cop and the bad cop all by himself, without any help during his interrogations. No criminal ever got away without making a confession.

He started at the bottom and ended up becoming a seasoned detective—the bane of criminals, basically. Martin lived in San Mishuno at the time but later he moved to San Sequoia.

While he was successfully pursuing his career as a police officer, he met Kaori Tamura, a charming single mother with whom he fell in love instantly. Martin and Kaori lived together for a while and eventually got married. They lived happily for a while with their little children: Barret, (Kaori’s son from a previous relationship), and Tiffany, the daughter they had together.

Unfortunately, their relationship didn’t work out, since Martin’s career always came between them, and Kaori couldn’t stand being left alone for so many hours, so they ended up splitting up.

To be honest, I don’t remember if they just went their separate ways or if they actually got divorced.

The point is, Martin moved out to live alone with his dog, Sidney, (which I’m planning to add as soon as InZOI gives us pets).

Kaori, of course, kept custody of the children, who were both (and still are) toddlers, or infants, or probably one is a toddler and the other an infant? I really don’t remember cause it’s been a while since I last played this game.

And that’s Martin’s Sims 4 backstory. He and the Marty from Inzoi are very different styles, but essentially the same concept. Of course, there are small differences, since The Sims 4 is quite cartoony, which I love, but I always wanted something more realistic, so I’m really happy to see him and some of my all-time sim characters literally come to life and look a bit more human in InZOI.

IMO, Martin turned out to be quite accurate and particularly handsome in InZOI (though he already was in The Sims 4, if you ask me). The only thing I miss about the former Marty is his law enforcement career. Frankly, I can’t wait for InZOI to add that aspect of gameplay so that Martin can return to what he loves most: helping and protecting people. For now, he’s in college, studying something useful for his detective career when/if he’s ever able to resume it.

Anyway, to give continuity to “Coop’s” story, let’s say that after his breakup with Kaori, he moved to Bliss Bay (InZOI), where he met Kaitlyn Brown, who worked at the flower shop. It wasn’t love at first sight; Martin courted her unsuccessfully for a while until he finally convinced her to move in with him.

Kaitlyn accepted on the condition that their relationship would be open, with no strings attached, and no exclusivity. This meant they could both date other people with the other’s consent, without being jealous, and with zero lies. Martin agreed because, at the time, he wasn’t looking for anything serious, he just wanted some company, and he really liked Kaitlyn.

But unfortunately for him, shortly after moving to Dowon so that Kaitlyn could further her musical career, he fell head over heels in love with her. (Perhaps he fell in love with her long before the move to Dowon, otherwise he’d never have agreed to leave Bliss Bay).

Sadly, the same didn’t happen to her. On the contrary, she always seemed unsatisfied. Basically, her mood was always “annoyed” after “Set the Mood” (Woohoo for The Sims). No matter how hard he tried, Martin could never fix this, He began to feel depressed and noticed that he and Kaitlyn were gradually drifting apart.

That sparked a conflict between them which led them to decide, by mutual agreement, start dating other people, and, as a first step, they invited their respective crushes to move in as their roommates.

Now the four of them live together: Marty, Kaitlyn, Martin’s crush and college classmate Destiny, and Kaitlyn’s crush and close friend Genki. It’s important to note that Destiny is hopelessly in love with Martin, and Genki with Kaitlyn. So, how did it turn out when they all moved in together? Well, buckle up because we’ll find out soon!

Okay maybe not that soon, cause this was only a quick summary of what Marty has been through since he and Kaitlyn moved to Dowon. We’ll have to go back a bit to tell the story from the beginning. But don’t worry, I’ll go as fast as I can—just stay tuned!
