The night at The Grind is over, the place is closed. Randy doesn’t really frequent these places, but today he came with a single purpose: talking to his mother, Tiara. As harsh as it sounds, he has come to believe that bringing her back to life may have been a mistake.

Randy: Sorry, Mom, but you can’t keep doing this.
Tiara: Doing what?
Randy: This, going out to bars and clubs like you were in your thirties.
Tiara: So what do you want me to do, die again?
Randy: God, no, Mom, of course not.
Tiara: So what then, should I just stay home all alone?

Tiara: Your father doesn’t want anything to do with me. He’s very happy married to that bimbo.
Randy: Yeah, well, Dad’s situation is a bit complicated now.
Tiara: What’s complicated? I’m alive, I’m his wife, so that marriage is invalid, period.
Randy: Dad was technically a widower when he married Suzy, so it is valid.
Tiara: Rubbish.

It’s already dawn in Bridgeport. Randy failed to convince his mother to give up her nightlife and leave Roderick alone.

Dawn also broke for Nathan, who started the day calling his cousin Samantha (Randy and Deidre’s daughter) to try to boost his friendship with her. He wants to reconnect and nurture his family ties as much as possible.

Unfortunately for him, Sam isn’t very receptive today.
Samantha: Sorry, but shouldn’t you be doing something else right now, like going to class or work?

Indeed, Nathan’s workplace awaits him in a couple of hours.

Nathan: You’re right. It’s my first day on the job, by the way.
Samantha: Well, good luck on your first day.
Nathan: Uh, thanks, I guess.
Samantha: Yeah, goodbye Nathan.

Later, at the Kingston residence…

Elspeth has taken Ryan out to the garden to get some sun and fresh air.

And while they’re at it, teach him to walk because it’s about time for him to learn.

Unfortunately, as soon as she put him down, it started raining. Such is the crazy Bridgeport weather.

Ryan doesn’t mind the rain and is willing to explore the world around him either way.

But Elspeth does not agree.
Elspeth: Well, honey, we’d better have our walking lessons indoors.

Elspeth: *Sigh* Weather is not on our side today.
Now it’s Ryan who doesn’t agree. Rain was fun!

Not for Samantha’s, who has just canceled an outing with a potential date due to the weather. How is she supposed to find a boyfriend like this? Don’t people know what an umbrella is?

As consolation, she has taken up playing the drums. Music is in the blood of all the Kingstons, without a doubt.

Meanwhile, Randy, who has just returned after a long (unsuccessful) talk with his mother, is now in charge of Ryan’s walking lessons.
Randy: Okay, sweetie, one step at a time, that’s it… you’re doing great.
Ryan: *Giggles*

Randy: Now by yourself, you can do this. Come on, come here, Ry.

Ryan: *Sits down*
Randy: *Sighs*

Randy: Want to try again?
Ryan: *Nods*
Randy: Of course you do, we Kingstons aren’t quitters, right?
Ryan: *Shakes head*
Randy: Good!

Randy: And… one step at a time. That’s right. You’re doing great, honey.

Randy: Now come with Daddy, you can do it… Well done!

Ryan has managed to take his first steps on his own and walk over to his dad.

Randy: Yes! Good job, Ry! You’ve done it!

Ryan: *Laughs*
Randy: Congratulations, kid. Now, let’s go tell mom the news.

While her dad and Elspeth celebrate Ryan’s first steps, Samantha has to take care of her half-siblings. Roddy needed help with a homework assignment.

And Megan wanted someone to watch TV with her. Children’s shows aren’t Sam’s cup of tea, but it’s a good way to bond with her little sister.

Meanwhile, in the adjoining living room, little Ryan discovers music.

Look at his face when he produced his first musical sound. Clearly, like a typical Kingston, he just fell in love with music!

Elspeth has left for work, and the children will soon be leaving for school, so Randy made breakfast for everyone.

And so another day has begun at the Kingston household. 🌤️
