We’re back with Roderick and Suzy. She isn’t even showing yet, but she’s so excited with her pregnancy that she’s already started wearing maternity clothes. Roderick, on the other hand, doesn’t seem quite as thrilled.

It’s not that he didn’t want to have a baby with Suzy, it’s just he never even considered it. He’s retired, has his own children, all of them grown up, and even grandchildren, one of whom is about to go to college.

But for Suzy, this is a new beginning. She’s not exactly young, but she’s still much younger than Roderick. She never thought about having children, but now she’s willing to give up her music career to be a mom.

She is just now returning from her first medical check-up.

Roderick didn’t go with her because, to be honest, all this has made him very anxious.

Roderick: Sorry, Suz, I really wanted to go with you, but I need time to digest it. Like this meal, which is going to need a lot of antacids.
Yeah, it’s sad to say, but he, the ever-vibrant Roderick Kingston, has started to feel really old in light of recent events.

Of course, that could just be in his mind, since, according to Suzy
he looks “better than ever”.
Roderick: Thanks, Suzy, but let’s face it, my best days are behind me.
“You insufferably vain man!”, Suzy would tell him as always, if she could hear him now.

Suzy has every right to be happy about her pregnancy and have as many children as she wants, but… with an old man like him?

He wishes he could feel as happy as she does, but he can’t help thinking he probably won’t be here to see their child graduate from college.

Thankfully, Suzy is back home to cheer him up with her positive thinking… And other things.
Suzy: Stressed again? Aw, honey, let me help you with one of my relaxing massages.
Roderick: (To himself) Ah, Suzy… Does she realize how sexy she looks in that workout jumpsuit?

Roderick: That’s very sweet from you, but weren’t you going to the gym?
Suzy: The gym can wait. You know, because of the baby? Besides, I won’t leave you here all alone and depressed.
Roderick: Impossible to be depressed with you around, and in those clothes.
Suzy: Rod…

Surely the gym can wait, but Roderick, apparently, cannot.
Suzy: (Mid-kiss) Hold on. I need to go change.
Roderick: Forget it, I’m so ready now.
Suzy: I can tell…

Suzy: Wow, and you say you’re old!
Roderick: Well, some things in me still work… sometimes.
Suzy: Good, I’ll go change, you change too and I’ll see you in the hot tub.
Roderick: On the roof? By the time we get there I will have lost my… inspiration.
Suzy: Oh, we’ll get it back. Leave it to me, okay?

Roderick: Can’t we just forget about the swimsuits?
Suzy: Ours isn’t the only penthouse around here, we don’t want our nosy neighbors capturing our butts on video and posting it online. Go on, get changed and meet me in five minutes.
Roderick: Uh, I may not last that long.
Suzy: Enough with that, hon. Just take your time, I’ll be waiting for you.

A COUPLE MINUTES LATER…

Roderick: Well? Where’s your swimsuit?
Suzy: I’ll get changed in a minute; you go in and relax.

Roderick: Or you can come in as you are. I like you either way.
Suzy: Thank you, but I’m not ruining my expensive gym wear when I have a perfectly functional swimsuit.
Roderick: And sexy too, I hope.
Suzy: As if you care about the suit.
Roderick: You got a point.

AS SOON AS THEY GET IN THE HOT TUB…

Suzy: So? Did you manage to keep your inspiration?”
Roderick: Are you kidding? Five minutes was too long for me.
Suzy: Aw, don’t worry, love, I’ll help you get it back real fast.

It seems that Suzy was serious when she said “real fast.”

Roderick: Wow, that was amazing!
Suzy: I told you to leave it to me.
A romantic evening in the jacuzzi and a sexy swimsuit can go a long way, can’t they?

Evening has fallen. After those glorious moments, the warm water and the gentle evening breeze have a soothing effect on Suzy and Roderick. They both seem satisfied; she is truly delighted and he is much more relaxed. Rod’s catastrophic thoughts about old age and his manhood are now far away. Or at least forgotten in a hidden corner of his mind.

Suzy: Ah, this is the life, isn’t it?
Roderick: Mmm?
Suzy: Rod, you’re not falling asleep, are you?
Roderick: What? No.

Suzy: It’s not a crime to be sleepy, you know?
Roderick: It’s not a crime for old people like me, I suppose.
Suzy: (Sigh) Here we go again… It’s not like you’re a hundred years.
Roderick: Not a hundred, but close.
Suzy: Rod, please, you’re 40 years away from that. Plus, you’re young at heart, you always have been. Age had never bothered you before, so tell me, is all this because of the baby?

Roderick: I’m sorry, Suz. I want that baby as much as you do, it’s just that… all this took me by surprise, made me think about things like what my life expectancy is and how much time I really have left to live.
Suzy: Oh, come on, honey, forget about that and think positive. You’re a healthy, strong man, you have a long life ahead of you.

Suzy: You’re scared, I get it, cause I am scared too. It’s been difficult for me too to adjust to my new status. Leaving my job, giving up my career and my profession in general at this point in my life it’s a huge change…
Roderick: It sure is.

Suzy: Yeah, but we’ll be fine, you’ll see.
Roderick: You really think so?
Suzy: Uh, yeah. At least, I hope so.

Suzy: It’s best not to think too much about the future. Let’s just focus on the present for now, okay?
Roderick: Okay.

Roderick: Are you leaving?
Suzy: No, I’m just going to get us some drinks.
Roderick: Good, I’ll wait here for round two.

Suzy: Round two, huh? We’ll see about that.
Seriously, chances are Roderick will fall asleep in about 10 minutes. And that’s fine with Suzy cause she’s no spring chicken either, she’s exhausted too.

But it’s been a great evening, and best of all, Tiara hasn’t shown up or called. She must be somewhere in Bridgeport living her ‘new’ life to the fullest with her vampire friends or something. Good for her, as long as she doesn’t invite Roderick to join her.

Roderick: Hey, Suz, forget the drinks, let’s grab a bite instead.
Suzy: You sure? What about round two?

Roderick: (Yawns) Well, that’ll need to wait until tomorrow.
Suzy(Chuckles) That’s fine with me, honey.

Roderick: I might forget about supper too and go straight to bed, I hope you don’t mind.
Suzy: Of course not. In fact, I need a good night’s sleep too.
Roderick: Then let’s go.

Roderick: But first I wanna thank you. You sure made me feel like new.
Suzy: And that’s how you look, darling.
Roderick: Do I?
Suzy: Without a doubt. You’re the sexiest man in the world—and you’ll be the best dad, too. I mean, you are a great dad already.
Roderick: Yeah, I don’t know if my children would agree with that. It’s not for nothing that Randy brought his mother back to life. Probably because I sucked as a father.

Suzy: That’s rubbish, honey. He brought her back because he missed his mother. He would have done the same for you.
Roderick: Maybe… Anyway, thanks for your words, for tonight in general…

Roderick: I don’t know how you do it, but you always find a way to make me feel like a million bucks.
Suzy: And you always find a way to make me feel beautiful and loved.

Roderick: Cause both are true. You are beautiful and loved by me.
Suzy: Aw, Roderick. No matter how ‘old’ you get, you’ll always be a hopeless romantic.
Roderick: Forever.

A loving kiss with the Bridgeport sunset as a backdrop is Roderick’s way to reaffirm to Suzy his gratitude.

These are the moments Suzy treasures, when it’s just the two of them and nothing else.

The evening is over; it’s time to go to sleep. Roderick is already snoring, like every night. Suzy doesn’t care in the least as she recalls their wonderful moments together.

Roderick can say he’s ‘old’ all he wants, but the way he made her feel today tells a very different story.

Perhaps it’s just the immense love she feels for him, even though she knows he will never love her the way he loved Tiara. In fact, there’s a good chance that Tiara could take him away from her again, but right now Roderick is here with her, and Suzy will cling to that with all her might, for as long as possible. ❤️
