Anika heard her father calling for dinner, but she can’t go now, there’s a lot of studying to do if she wants to pass the exams.

And since Kennedy will be spending the afternoon with Orange, Lukas will help her with homework.

Allan has come to see why no one attended his call.
Allan: Hey, what’s going on here? Nobody’s gonna eat today?
Anika: Sorry dad, but I have to finish this homework. I’ll grab a bite later.

Lukas: And I promised to explain math to her, so you guys will have to start without me.
Allan: Again? This is happening too often; you rarely eat with us anymore. Lately it’s just your mom, Zeke and me at the table!

Lukas: No offense, Dad, but Kenny, Anika and I are going off to college soon, so you might as well get used to this.
Anika: Sorry, Dad, but Lukas has a point.

Allan knows that Lukas indeed has a point; doesn’t mean he’s amused by it.
Allan: Yeah, I guess our older kids going off to college while we are left alone with our youngest is what it’s like to get old. Dang it!
