While Allan and Zeke try their luck at the skating rink, the rest of the family passes the time as best they can. Anika and Lukas, for example, are busy checking their phones.
Lukas: Any news from Alexander?
Anika: (Sighs) Yeah, he couldn’t make it, he’s stuck at a gathering with his parents.

Anika: What about you, anything interesting?
Lukas: Well, yeah… I got several messages from Savannah.
Anika: But those weren’t the ones you were expecting to get, were they? You’d want them to be from Lucas.
Lukas: I don’t get why he won’t talk to me anymore.
Anika: Cause he’s an idiot, you should forget him and date Savannah, she’s a great girl.
Lukas:

Kennedy: So, still thinking about Lucas Munch, huh?
Lukas: Who told you?
Kennedy: Duh, Anika, who else?
Lukas: Lucas is in the past.
Kennedy: You keep telling yourself that.

Kennedy: But Anika is right, Savannah is better, by far. If I were you, I’d forget that jerk Lucas and give her a chance.
Lukas: You would?
Kennedy: Sure, Savannah is gorgeous, smart and super nice. Plus, what have you got to lose?

Zoe: Is Lukas worried about something?
Anika: More like ‘someone’. He keeps thinking about that goof Lucas Munch.
Zoe: Oh, no, poor thing. I hope he gets over it soon.
Anika: He will if he knows what’s good for him.
Zoe: I hope so. By the way, where’s your dad?

At that precise moment, from the skate rink entrance…
Allan: Hey, I’m here!
Zoe: Al! where have you been?
Allan: I was practicing my ice skating.
Zoe: And how did it go?
Allan: Well, I was a little bit rusty, but I caught up really fast.
Zoe: That’s nice, but, uh, it’s pretty late, can we go now?

It’s dusk, Allan agreed that it was time to go home, but only he and Zoe set out to return, the kids asked to stay a little longer in the hope that their friends would arrive later. There are no classes the next day, so Zoe agrees that she and Allan go home alone, which is more than convenient since they still have a pending talk.
