Now, let’s leave Del Sol Valley for a while. It’s time to return to Hidden Springs with Tyron, the eldest of the Cho brothers and his wife, Candice Barnard.

But first, we’ll do a quick recap on Candice’s ongoing affair with Jasper Goth, her co-worker at the Firehouse, which has her marriage to Tyron hanging on a thread. By now, almost everyone in Hidden Springs knows that Candice and Jasper are having a passionate affair during their working hours at the station.

This matter has already come to the attention of Tyron’s father, William, who is also the Fire Chief, that is Candice boss. William talked to Candice very seriously about it. Candice was so surprised she didn’t even know what to say.

Well, did she really think William wouldn’t notice? How could he not if she and Jasper never bothered to be discreet, even when on duty?

William, spoke to Jasper as well, and even though, as expected, Jasper denied everything, he warned him that he would fire them both if the rumors turned out to be true.

But William’s lecture didn’t do much good, cause Candice and Jasper can’t keep their hands off each other.

Still, Candice couldn’t help but worry.
Candice: Did William ask you about us?
Jasper: Ask? That was a full-blown interrogation.
Candice: What did you tell him?
Jasper: That the rumors aren’t true, what else would I tell him?

Candice: The truth, maybe? Tyron already knows, or at least he suspects.
Jasper: Yes, but Madeline doesn’t. And I’d rather she stays that way for now.
Candice: When do you plan to tell her?
Jasper: Whenever I deem it best.

Candice: Well, I’m talking to Ty soon, I’ll ask him for a divorce.
Jasper: D-Divorce?
Candice: Yes. You’re asking Madeline for a divorce too, aren’t you?
Jasper: Uh– Candace, we better not talk about this now, okay?

Candice: Why not? It’s what we both want, don’t we?
Jasper: Sure, but – See, nobody really knows about us, it’s just rumoring so far, as long as we stay discreet, we should be fine the way we are now.
Candice: You’re right, it’s just…

Candice: I can’t wait for us to move in together, wasn’t that the plan?
Jasper: Of course, my darling, we’ll just have to wait a little longer.
Candice: But we’ve waited too long already.
Jasper: Like I said, we’ll talk about it later, lunch hour is almost over, it’s our only chance, let’s not ruin it, ok?
Candice: Okay.

Candice and Jasper’s conversation, as usual, ends in the showers, where she completely forgets about the subject. Their encounter needs to be quick because their colleagues are about to return from lunch. Not to mention there could be an emergency call at any moment. You know, firefighter stuff.

Time to get back to work. Jasper emerges from the showers as if nothing. Neither Candice’s distress nor Chief William’s scolding seemed to bother him; he seems quite comfortable living this double life… Or at least that’s what it looks like. Later we will find that Jasp is not that comfortable with all this.

Candice, for her part, can’t hide her concern about the situation anymore. She doesn’t want to keep cheating on Tyron or disrespecting her father-in-law at the station. She just wants to make things right, ask for a divorce at once and have a steady relationship with Jasper.

Although, truth be told, Jasper doesn’t seem interested in getting a divorce himself. Every time she talks about it, he changes the subject or flat out avoids it. Maybe he needs her to make the first move, and that’s exactly what she’ll do.
Candice: Yeah, if I ask Ty for a divorce first, maybe then Jasp will get the courage to ask Madeline too.

Well, who knows if that will ever happen, as Jasper has two powerful reasons why he doesn’t want to make a change in his life as drastic as filing for a divorce.

One of those reasons is his wife, Madeline, who, by the way, is still deeply in love with him.

And the other one is their only son, Jim, who looks up to Jasper as an absolute hero.

Jasper can’t break their hearts just to be free to sleep with Candice. He doesn’t want to be responsible for breaking up Candice’s home either. She and Tyron have a little girl, who would be left without her daddy, just like Jim would be if he asked Madeline for a divorce.

So far, his affair with Candice has been convenient for him. They are both married, they only see each other at the fire station, there are no strings attached. Divorcing and moving in together would mean hurting the people around them, maybe even losing their jobs. Jasper is definitely not ready for that.

Not to mention how much he still loves Madeline. Not in the same way he loves Candice, of course. Madeline represents stability; things with Candice are exciting and hot, but frankly he’s not sure if they will last. He gets the impression that Candice still loves Tyron, and that once she’s divorced, she may change her mind and want to get back together with him.

Candice is bold and Tyron has held up really well. Jasp doesn’t know what he would do if Madeline did what Candice is doing by getting herself a lover. He probably couldn’t stand it.

Nah, Madeline would never cheat on him, she’s a very loving wife. (She’s and excellent cook too, by the way; Candice can’t even cook). And they have a great family, like, why would he destroy it? And why would Candice want to destroy hers?

Also, what does Candice see in him? He’s just a firefighter; he lives in a simple house with what he can afford with his salary at the station. I mean, he’s not even a Chief yet, for goodness’ sake.

Tyron Cho, on the other hand, is a total celebrity, the son of celebrities too!

All these thoughts kept Jasper very quiet and distant during breakfast. Madeline, who is no fool and knows him pretty well, has already noticed that something is amiss with him. Maybe it has something to do with these rumors running around town, but – are they true?

Madeline: Jasp, is something bothering you, honey?
Jasper: Me? Of course not, dear, everything’s fine.
Madeline: Are you sure? You were awfully quiet at breakfast, any trouble at work?
Jasper: Well, I had a little disagreement with my boss, but it wasn’t a big deal.
Madeline: Your job’s not at risk, is it?
Jasper: My job, at risk? Nah, I tell you there’s nothing to worry about, baby.

Well, it’s not exactly Jasper’s job that Madeline is worried about. Rather, it’s the rumors going around Hidden Springs about what might be going on inside the Fire Station. Of course, she can’t be more specific with Jasper now because Jim is around.

She didn’t touch that subject for today, not only because she didn’t want Jim to find out what her father is up to, but because, truth be told, she herself would rather not know. Jasp is the love of her life, if he left her, she wouldn’t know what to do.

She hardly sleeps thinking about Jasper and Candice, alone at that Station all night long. Candice is gorgeous and refined, she’s just an ordinary housewife, how can she compete with her?

And what would become of Jim, anyway, if Jasper left them to go with Candice?

Who will spray the monster under his bed and all that stuff a father does for his son??

Jim is still too young to understand these things, so Madeline prefers that he doesn’t hear anything about it… at least not yet. They say what you don’t know can’t hurt you, and that applies to her as well.

And that concludes our recap of Candice’s romance with Jasper. From here on out we’ll continue with what happened to her and Tyron’s marriage, so we’ll be staying in Hidden Springs for a while. Stay tuned and brace yourselves! 😉
