LUCKY PALMS, EARLY AFTERNOON…

Brandon’s wife Sandra has come to thank Terence for giving her daughter Cindy a chance as Davy’s nanny’s assistant, and for the juicy remuneration.
Terence: No problem, I need reliable people at Davy’s side and who better than Cindy, the daughter of my right-hand man.

‘Who better than Cindy?’ Well, that’s questionable, but Sandra is hopeful her daughter will improve her skills over time and become a full-time nanny, at least until it’s time to go to college, which, thanks to Brandon’s work with Terence, they’ll now be able to afford.

While Terence attends to his business, Cynthia has just returned from the beauty salon, had her hair done, and is about to enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot tub at home.

She needs to be calm, as she will be talking to Terence today about her intention to return to work. She knows he expects her to stay home with Davy all the time, but since they have a nanny now, Cynthia sees no reason not to return to the workforce.

Terence: You wanna do what?
Cynthia: What you just heard, honey, I want to go back to work.
Terence: But you don’t need to, I can give you anything you want.

Cynthia: I know, and I appreciate it, but I need to get out and do something, I’m suffocating here inside.
Terence: Suffocating? I thought you hated the outdoors.
Cynthia: I do, but I also hate being inside, doing nothing.
Terence: You’re not ‘doing nothing’, you’re taking care of Davy, being an excellent stay at home mother and a loving housewife. That’s a lot to do.

Terence: There’s absolutely no need for you to work cause, like I said, I can give you everything you could possibly have dreamed of. Plus, you’re a rich girl yourself, remember? You already have your own money.
Cynthia: This is not about the money; I just need some action. And I miss my job so much.
Terence: I get your point, believe me, I get it.

Terence: And there’s no way I’m gonna be the typical toxic husband who keeps you locked up and prevents you from being yourself. That’s not like me. I know you like action, that’s one of the reasons I fell in love with you, in case you didn’t know. But your job, like mine, has risks, and I don’t want the mother of my child to be at risk at all.
Cynthia: I understand that, Terr, but listen…

Terence: No. You hear me out. Don’t cut me off. I listened to you, so now you listen to me, okay?
Cynthia: (Wearily) Okay.
Terence: Thank you. Now listen carefully.

Terence: I put my life on the line every time I go out to work, so that you and Davy have the best, and while I do that, it’s reassuring to know that no matter what happens to me, you and he are safe here at home, in absolutely no danger whatsoever. If you go back out on the streets to commit your thefts, you’ll be in danger on a daily basis.

Terence: Plus, you’re forgetting the most important thing here: we’re trying to have another baby, so sooner or later you’ll get pregnant, then, you won’t be able to go around robbing banks and houses in your condition. I won’t let you put our baby at risk, while running away at full speed, or being chased by the police. That would be very bad for your pregnancy and…

Cynthia: Woah, woah. Terry, stop! I understand you’re worried about mine and Davy’s security, that you feel relief knowing that we’re safe at home, but trust me, I know the risks, and I know well how to take care of myself too. Now, about having another child… I told you we should wait, and we will. I’m NOT having another baby at this moment, Terr. Forgive me, but I’m not.

Terence: (Starts to glow red) Are you saying you don’t want us to have any more children?
Cynthia: I’m saying, I want to give Davy my best. He’s demanding enough as it is, with another baby I won’t be able to provide him with all the attention he needs.
Terence: Well, if you want to give Davy your best, then don’t go out to work, just stay at home with him.
Cynthia: I will, during the day, but at night I’ll go to work, I need to. I don’t want to forever depend on you and…

Terence: Okay, okay, okay. Enough. I get it, you’re not a trophy wife, and you don’t want any more kids for now, you want to be independent, blah, blah, blah. Fine. I’m gonna give in this time, cause I love you and I want your happiness above all else.
Cynthia: You – you mean it?
Terence: Course I do. But you know, first of all, I’m a businessman, so we will be negotiating.

Terence: Let’s make a deal. I’ll let you go to work, say for a year, and then we’ll go for that second baby. Does that sound fair to you?
Cynthia: Mm, make it two years or there’s no deal.
Terence: All right, two years, but no more, okay?
Cynthia: O-okay.
Terence: Okay, so you can go to work whenever you want now.

Cynthia: Aw, thank you so much, Terry. You’re so understanding…
Terence: Not really, but you know I’d do anything for you, I’d even die for you, you know that, don’t you?
Cynthia: Yes, but you don’t have to die, just give me some space, okay?
Terence: That won’t be easy for me, I’m telling you, but I’ll try.
Cynthia: Thank you, honey, this really means a lot to me.
Terence: Yeah, you’re welcome… I guess.

Terence: By the way, you changed your hair. You look hot, and you’ve taken a few years off.
Cynthia: Uh, thanks… I guess.
Terence: Oh, I’m not saying you’re old or anything, it’s just…. Damn, don’t be offended, please.
Cynthia: I’m not offended, I’m in my 20’s for God’s sake. Now, if you don’t mind, I have to get ready to go to work.
Terence: What? Already?
Cynthia: Yep, the sooner the better.
