Well rested after her nap, Kelly sits down at the table with Dale, Sarah and Lauri. She looks in pretty good spirits, but of course, she takes a few seconds to examine the new roommate. Dale once again crosses his fingers, this time imaginatively, that no problems arise between the two girls.

Kelly: So, you’re our new roomie, Lauri, right?

Lauri: Right. And you must be Kelly, Dale’s girlfriend.

Kelly: That’s right.

Lauri: Well, nice to meet you, Kelly.

Kelly: Nice to meet you too.

Kelly watches Lauri for a few more seconds, while everyone eats. Dale can’t help himself, he’s waiting for the other shoe to drop, and praying that Lauri doesn’t talk about the Gnubb game, or at least not too excitedly.

Kelly: (Out of the blue, to Lauri) Oh, I saw you playing Gnubb with dale before my nap…

(Dale nearly chokes on his soup)

Sarah: (To herself) Here we go… For the record, I wasn’t the one who brought it up.

Kelly: (As if nothing) I could see you’re a great player, I’ve never been able to win at Gnubb, it must be because I don’t know the game rules very well.

Lauri: Oh, I can teach you if you want.

Kelly: Really? That’s so nice of you. Rest assured I’ll be there the next time you and Dale play.

Lauri: G-great.

Dale: …

Sarah: (To herself) Of course you’ll be there, Kelly, keeping an eye on your man for a change. Sorry, Lauri you’ll have to search somewhere else. Kelly will never give you a chance to be alone with Cho again.

Sarah: Well, if everyone here is going to play Gnubb, I offer myself as a fourth player, that way we will have two complete teams.

Lauri: That’s a great idea.

Kelly: I’m all for it. The more the merrier. What do you say, D.?

Dale: Sure, why not?

Sarah gets up to wash her plate, while Kelly continues talking animatedly with Lauri and asking her questions about Gnubb.

Sarah: (To herself again) Kelly’s enthusiasm for that silly game seems so genuine, I almost buy it….

Sarah: (Still to herself) Oh, well, she’s a P.E. major after all, any kind of fitness exercise should interest her. Or maybe she doesn’t give a damn about the Gnubb and is just putting into practice this ‘keep your friends close and your enemies closer’ thing? Nah, she’s probably just trying really hard to be friendlier with her roomies. If so, good for her! I guess we’ll have to wait and see what she’s up to.
